The purpose of GHTC India
The Government of India, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has invited established Indian and international construction technology providers, start-ups, and various other stakeholders to help transform the country’s construction industry through a Global Housing Technology Challenge. We are excited to be one of the invitees! The ultimate goal is the creation of affordable, high-quality mass housing under Prime Minister Awas Yojana. So how does Reliable ICF come into the picture?
ICF’s technology fit with Mass Housing
Recent paradigm shifts in the nation’s infrastructure, such as the enormous investment in mass housing under the PM Awas Yojana, demand a parallel revolution in the construction industry. We believe the technology known as ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) capable of handling such a challenge. The building system has been the gold standard of construction for the past couple of decades abroad, and we have introduced and modified it to suit the Indian market. Conventional masonry blocks within concrete frame structures are highly labor, resource, and skill-intensive. Hence meeting the demand of a large number of dwellings in a short time is difficult. As opposed to this, ICF is stackable, interlocking, lightweight EPS blocks that can be assembled very fast and filled with concrete to give affordable disaster-proof, low-energy, clean-air, air-tight buildings. Concrete pouring can be automated. Moreover, as an integral part of the construction process, ICF construction gets thermally insulated. This way ICF buildings, overcome the conventional flaws of concrete homes:
1) Structural damage due to thermal stress,
2) Uncomfortable indoor temperatures.
Scalability of ICF technology & India’s Mass Housing Construction needs
As a technology, ICF can be easily scaled up, within the available ecosystem. EPS is a widely available material, with manufacturing factories within a 200 km radius of any possible project site in India. We can make our proprietary molds available at multiple regional offices, each connected to a partner factory. Hence, the molded EPS blocks can be made available with minimum transportation costs. Each set of molds can produce blocks sufficient for 2,500 square feet covered area building per day or 7,50,000 sqft per year. Skills required for constructing ICF buildings are minimal & these basic skills can be imparted to hundreds of semi-skilled masons and workers under the Skill India campaign to create capacities very fast. As the blocks are very light and handy, female workers can be trained in these skillsets, revolutionizing the working culture of construction sites.
Our Vision :
Within this decade, ICF-based construction becomes the integrating factor in the construction of buildings across the geographical and climatic diversity of India.
The exhibition is open to all on 3rd Mach at the Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. Hope to see you there!
